First of all he had a great weekend watching Brian's cousin, Chad Zurcher play shortstop for the University of Memphis. They were playing UAB in a three game series so we decided to hop over and watch him do his thing. Mac loved it! Especially when at the end of the game Chad gave him the ball that he caught to make the final out and end the game (that was into extra innings) with a win. Below is a link to an ESPN interview with Chad...he is leading the nation with a .514 batting avg in their conference. Hopefully he will get drafted and we will get to take Mac to watch him at Turner field!
Check him out!

After the game, we went over to hang out with my cousins, Courtney & Matt and their 3 kids Cate, Molly, & Jake. It was a short but wonderful visit and we will definitely be visiting more often...Mac had a blast with the kids!
Me with Kate & Molly...oops - where is Jake??
Well after our visit - when the kids all obviously NEEDED to go to bed...we decided to check in a hotel and enjoy sleeping late and then go watch Chad play on Sunday before heading back to Atlanta.
Well apparently Brian and I aren't the sharpest tacks in the box...he walked out of the Hampton in shaking his head...there wasn't a hotel room available within 100 miles of Birmingham! TALADEGA RACE WEEKEND!!! Ughh! What were we thinking! We even commented on the way into town at the vast sea of RV's parked around the raceway...as far as the eye could see...it didn't even register in our brains that the rest of their friends were all shacked up in hotels all over B'ham. So...Brian drove us all the way back to Atlanta late Sat night.
Sunday we took a drive up to Helen to bring Mac to see the bears at Bear Park...he thoroughly enjoyed watching them catch the apples in their mouths as he threw them into the cage. After Helen we drove over to Tiger, GA and visited "Goats on The Roof"...which is just what it says...a great sandwich, ice cream, candy, gift store...with goats living up on the roof...and a few chickens! It is a good pit stop if you happen to be driving through the area and want to eat somewhere more interesting than McDonalds.
Next weekend...it is off to Sandersville for Easter with the Aycock crew!

Disclaimer:
Don't let the daisy's fool ya! I am not running for office, nor do I teach a Sunday school class. We started this blog to document our family's adoption journey...a journey that is by no means filled with cotton candy and unicorns. It is fueled 100% by love, but I am learning that it is very HARD...every day...and this blog is my therapy I guess...like I have time to go to a real shrink! If your tender ears are offended by my occasional rant or a few Bible curse words here and there...this probably isn't the blog for you.
